Keep It Simple Social: Use the KISS approach to social media content creation. Make sure your content has a social element to them. Avoid promotional and corporate themes on social media. People tune out and scroll past if your content looks like ads.
THE KLT FACTOR
Know, Like, Trust factor: The purpose of our content is to move people from strangers to customers. We demonstrate our expertise with our content. If we post engaging content, people will follow us, share our content, and even purchase when they are ready. Stop posting weak, ineffective content such as ‘Happy Valentine’s Day” kinda posts and start posting content that really ads value to your readers like advice, tips, tricks, shortcuts, etc. Your readers will love you for that and keep coming back for more.
DON’T SELL ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Don’t “hard sell” on social media. It’s not a place to sell unless you are selling second-hand goods or cars, there is a section called “marketplace” on Facebook for that kind of stuff. It’s like Gumtree. But, there are some industries that can get away with the hard sell, such as food, beauty, and fashion but the rest is much harder. Use social media to start a long-term relationship with your followers.
AM I TOO OLD FOR TIKTOK & INSTAGRAM REELS?
Did you know that over 30’s is the highest demographic that’s getting onto TikTok? TikTok and Instagram Reels seem daunting and overwhelming at first, but they are actually really simple to grasp. Just use the simple 3-step process to get started:
- Step 1: Shoot your Video clips
- Step 2: Edit your clips buy applying sound, filters, transitions and text
- Step 3: Then finally post, add some compelling captions and hashtags and boom ready to go!
SHOULD I ENGAGE INFLUENCERS? ṩ
Yes, influencers have engaged audiences that trust them. Remember we spoke about the KLT factor above? Influencers have that KLT factor. Their followers are ready to buy the stuff they promote. Make sure your influencer suits your brand image. You don’t always need to choose an influencer with a large following, small engaged audiences can also work.
WHAT IS A MEME?
A meme is an image with a motivational or funny quote. Memes are the currency of social media. Use memes in a creative way to make your audience engage and share your brand with their peers.
SHOULD I BE ON ALL PLATFORMS?
No, identify the platforms your audience hangs out on. If your audience is not on TikTok, no need to have a presence on there.
CAN I ASSIGN SOCIAL MEDIA TO MY ADMIN STAFF OR RECEPTIONIST?
Yes and no, if your receptionist is a trained social media manager then yes. If they’re not trained, then the answer is an abrupt NO! The wrong person can damage your brand and cause irreparable damage. Doesn’t mean if someone is using social media on their personal account they are qualified to use social media to grow a business.
